Marine Specialist - Business Analyst

17 Leathermarket Street, London SE1 3HN

The Role

The challenges facing the marine insurance market are well known. There has never been so much pressure to consider alternatives to the status quo. At Concirrus, we’ve developed a big data platform  that takes advantage of the growing availability of data to help the market see risks in a new light: based on the day-to-day behaviour of fleets. We’re looking for a Marine Business Analyst to be a part of the team responsible for our Quest Marine product, and to help us trailblaze change in marine insurance.

Collaborating closely with our data science and product teams, you’ll be responsible for  analysing data to identify new indicators of risk, validating these insights using market data, and helping to turn them into product features for use by our clients. Your first hand experience of the marine market will be essential in interpreting the results of analysis, and ensuring our technology helps insurers navigate the challenging market and differentiate themselves.

Concirrus is on a mission to change the way that insurance works.

Insurance losses are caused by behaviour and tracking these behaviours gives a much better indicator of risk than the static information used today.  We are working with leading marine and motor insurers using our software Quest to transform their understanding of risk.

Quest is a beautifully designed and intuitive web app built on a cutting edge technical architecture. It pulls together multiple sources of industry data, combines them with an insurer’s own data and uses big data analytics, developed by our in house team, to derive new behavioural insights for our customers.

With Series A investment under our belt, co founders with previous start up experience and a clever and passionate team based in London and Delhi, we’re looking for exceptional people excited by our vision to help us make it happen.

You’ve worked in the marine insurance industry for at least 3 years, and you’re passionate about technology and its ability to create the positive change necessary for its sustainability. You will have worked as an underwriter, or directly with underwriters, so you’ll be acutely aware of the trading conditions, and of the ways insurers have sought to distinguish themselves as a result. You love the idea of being part of a creative working environment, where the strength of your ideas and how you communicate them are the only barriers to effecting change.

  • 3+ years marine insurance experience
  • Solid understanding of the marine underwriting process
  • Significant experience in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis

As well as the opportunity to work on projects that you enjoy in an environment you’ll love, we look after our team members at Concirrus. Here are some of our perks:

  • Employee share scheme so you get to own a piece of the pie
  • We pay competitively with regular pay reviews
